Herbert Hoover Hankins, 86, of Crossville, TN passed away on November 16, 2014 at Cumberland Medical Center. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 with Bro. Scott Johnson officiating.
Herbert was born on February 24, 1928 in Pikeville, TN to John H. and Willie Phebe Crawford Hankins. He served in the United States Army and worked as a farmer. Herbert enjoyed hunting and woodworking.
Herbert is survived by son: Michael Hankins (Sue); daughters: Charlotte Smith (Karl), and Kathy Moore; grandchildren: Roy Thomas Adams (Sherri), Steve Lewis (Connie), Chuck Lewis (Debbie); five great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents: John H. and Willie Phebe Hankins; wife: Dollie Hankins; four brothers and five sisters.
I have lost a dear dear uncle, the last of my fathers siblings. I regret not being able to come and be there with him and his family for a final visit. But I am grateful for our visit in June of this year. I am with you in heart and spirit today as you are saying your final goodbyes. I will visit him and aunt Dolly again when I am next in Crossville . Much sympathy to Charlotte, Steve, Cathy and all my cousins. Hilda
