Ruben Eugene Whitaker, age 87, was born on July 10, 1927 in White Co. TN to John and Minnie Mae Whitaker and passed away on November 22, 2014 in Crossville, TN. He enjoyed gardening and hiking but going to church and singing was his passion.
He is survived by his wife- Lois Randolph Whitaker; sons- Perry (Yvonne) Whitaker, John (Tisha) Whitaker, and David (Marilyn) Whitaker; daughters- Kathy (David) Beaty and Barbara Gunter; grandchildren- Monica, David, Nathaniel, and Mary, Cody, Dylan, and Shayli Whitaker, Melissa Sherrill, and Fred Gunter; eight great grandchild; and one sister-Nyla Lockwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents- John Whitaker and Minnie Mae Bennet Whitaker, and two brothers- J.D. and Jim Whitaker.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 2 to 5 at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held on Monday the 24th at 10:00 AM with Pastor Joe England officiating and burial will follow at Smith’s Chapel Cemetery.
