Douglas Swanson Franklin

Douglas Swanson Franklin, age 85, was born February 10,1930 to Will and Ethel Franklin in Big Stone Gap, Virginia and passed away on May 31, 2015 in Crossville, TN. He worked as a postman for the United States Postal Service. Aside from wood working, he loved to attend bluegrass festivals and studying his own family genealogy.

He is survived by his wife- Pearl Faye Franklin; children- Mark Franklin (Jane), Debra Franklin Sharp, Rita Franklin, and Charlotte F. Luttrell (David); step-children- David Phipps (Vickie), Thomas Phipps (Melanie), John Phipps (Beth), and Wanda Phipps Simmons (Richard); grandchildren- Victor Shane Franklin (Anita), Michael Eric Sharp, Benjamin David Luttrell, Lindsey Ann Sharp and Nickolas Franklin Luttrell; and one great grandchild- Preston Mark Franklin.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents-Will Arch Franklin and Ethel Reedy Franklin; first wife- Patry Sharon Carey Franklin; brothers- Lonnie Bruce Franklin and Arch Vernon Franklin; and sister- Lois Franklin Miller.

The family will receive friends at Crossville Memorial on Thursday, June 4, 2015, from 12 to 3 with service to follow. Drew Shelley will officiate with burial in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
