Lucille “Lu” Edith Teal

Lucille “Lu” Edith Teal, age 87, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2015 following a long battle with lung cancer.
She was born in Dollar Bay, Michigan on February 26, 1929 to Norwegian and Swedish immigrants, the late John and Malvina Nordbeck. Preceded in death by husband Donald, brother Ebert, and sister Lorraine.
She married the love of her life, Donald Clyde Teal, on June 10, 1950 in Buffalo, New York. Shortly thereafter, they relocated to Columbia, Tennessee in 1951 and remained there for sixteen years. They then relocated with their family to Toledo, Ohio.
Her husband, Don retired from Dupont and then they moved to Fairfield Glade, Tennessee. Both of them were active in golf and gardening. They both traveled extensively around the world. Lu was a former “Queen Bee” and a multi-year member of the Red Hats. She was very active in multiple bridge clubs. She has been a resident of Fairfield Glade for thirty years and loved country music and antiquing. Don and Lu searched the entire East coast — looking for antiques she could sell in her store in the Antique Mall in Crossville. They never made much money but had great fun together, always on “the hunt.”
“Lu” was a very active volunteer at the Threads of Hope, a non-profit Thrift store in Crossville that supports the House of Hope. It provides care for the needy children of Cumberland County. She was also a very talented artist/painter, and an expert in fine jewelry and antiques.
She is survived by her two children, Denise and David and three grandchildren: Brianne, Laura, and Matthew. She was a devoted, loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will forever be in the hearts of those that knew and loved her.
Lu’s life celebration service is scheduled for 4:30pm on Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, 231 Westchester Drive, Fairfield Glade, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, Lu requested donations be made to the House of Hope, P.O. Box 4002, Crossville, TN 38557.
