Jewell Dell Smith Taber

Jewell Dell Smith Taber, age 96, was born on February 18, 1919 in Cumberland County, Tennessee to Wade and Lucy Pugh and passed away away on September 27, 2015 in Crossville, Tennessee with her family surrounding her. She was a housewife that lived in Cumberland County all her life. She was a member of Jehovah’s Witness and was baptized January 7, 1951 as a Jehovah’s Witness. Jewell enjoyed gardening, writing poetry, and taking care of her cats.

She was survived by sons- Donald Smith and Delbert Smith (Kay); daughters- Frances Hassler, Jean Smith, Joyce Cooper, Sue Music (Vann), and Carolyn Sutton (Kimsey); 28 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; and 17 great great grandchildren.

Jewell was preceded in death by her parents- Wade Hampton Pugh and Lucy Ann Webb Pugh; three husbands- J.B. Smith of 28 years, Zeb Carter of 3 years, and Holland Taber of 19 years; and sons- David, Dexter, and Edward Smith.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Crossville, Tennessee.
