Bobbye Jean Shipe, age 85, was born on September 10, 1931 to John and Della Silvey in Wheat Community of Roane County and passed away at her residence on October 13, 2016. She left a legacy of love. Bobbye was raised in church and loved the Lord. She read the Bible and followed its teachings, she was a prayer warrior. She was a member of Pine Eden Baptist Church and sang in the choir, a member of the Joy Group and worked in the clothes closet. She was a dedicated wife of 65 years and mother to not only her own 6 children but to all who were fortunate to cross her path. Bobbye was strong, brave, caring, compassionate, loving, selfless and attentive to everyone’s needs over her own. She was fondly called Nana by not only her own family but also by those who knew her and loved her. She loved and respected God’s creation and brought her gentle touch to His creatures as well. She loved her farm and worked tirelessly to can food from the garden and take care of live stock. Bobbye also impacted many lives through her journey here on earth and will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by her sons- Gary Shipe (Mary); Steve Shipe (Linda); Mark Shipe; and Chris Shipe (Rebekah); daughter- Rebecca Skudin (Michael); grandchildren- Charlie, Logan, Megan, Jessica, Steven, Erika, Sarah, Nick, Katie, and Matthew; 16 great-grandchildren; brother- Harold Silvey and sister- Johnnie Msarsa of Knoxville, TN.

Bobbye is preceded in death by her parents- John and Della Silvey; husband- James Shipe; son- James Michael Shipe; and grand-daughter Jennifer Marie Shipe.

The family will have a private service at a later date.
