Cathy Wynette Largent

Cathy Wynette Largent, age 52 was born on April 1, 1969 to Gary Wayne and Vonda Kay Smith Holland in Nashville, Tennessee. She passed away on August 18, 2021.

Cathy was a wonderful Christian wife, mother, and granna. She was dedicated to loving, caring, and supporting her grandchildren. She was one who would help others out where she could. She loved shopping, finding deals, and sharing deals with those who wanted to save money.

She is survived by her husband, Duane Largent; children, Kristin Renae Findley, Kyle Alan Largent, and Drake Alan Largent; grandchildren, Leigha Findley, Blake Findley, Haden Findley, Emmaline Largent, Forrest Largent, and Xander Largent; brother, Gary Wayne Holland, Jr.; sister, Sharon (Holland) Maleby.

A celebration of life for Cathy will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Cumberland Fellowship.

Joyce Eileen Piper

Joyce Eileen Piper 82 of Dayton, TN, previously Herington, Kansas, passed away August 22, 2021.

Joyce was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on March 24, 1939, the daughter of Dwight and Lavon Allen Biddle.

She married Donald Piper on May 27, 1958.

She worked as an Avon representative and was a cashier at a small grocery store. After her retirement she volunteered at the Herrington senior center.

She is survived by her son Scott Piper (Laura) of Crossville, TN. Grandson Levi Goodell (Desirea) of Lebo, KS., granddaughter Callie Piper of Crossville TN and 3 great grandchild. Sisters Pam Barker of Vienna, West Virginia and Debbie Badger of Peyton, Colorado, several nephews and nieces.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Donald Piper and her parents.

There will be no visitation or services at this time.

James Willard Ledbetter

James Willard Ledbetter, age 83, was born on May 31, 1938 to Casto and Evelyn Sparks Ledbetter in Wilder, TN and passed away on August 19, 2021 in Cookeville, TN. He did several things in life, loved to work, and took pride in driving a race car for Roscoe Tipton. He was a Timber Cutter in the logging business and worked for the City in Sanitation.

He never met a stranger, and was a family oriented man. He is survived by his wife- Diana Swafford Ledbetter, children- Judy Hubbard (Gary), Ann Keyes (John), Sheila Lee, Jeff Lane, Debbie Green (Richard), Gina and Lynn Adams, and Bobby Smith. James had 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren, and siblings- Bobby and Faye Ledbetter, and Camilla Veselica. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter- Karen Lane, sister- Willidean Sullivan and son-in-law- Paul Lee.

There will be a graveside service for him in Crossville City Cemetery, with Bro. David Rowan to officiate at 1:00 on Monday, August 23, 2021.

JeLesa Brooke Conley

Graveside services for JeLesa Brooke Conley, age 31, will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 1:00 in Green Acres Memory Gardens with Joey Smith officiating where she will be laid to rest. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 to 1 also at Green Acres Memory Gardens.

She is survived by her husband, Layne Conley; their two children; and her parents, Joey and Hope Smith.

Bruce Edward Pennington

Bruce Edward Pennington, age 72, was born on March 27, 1949 to Otis and Betty Nuchols Pennington in Dayton, OH and passed away on August 14, 2021 in Crossville, TN. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife- Cindy Pennington, sons- Scott Pennington (Michelle Carver) and Doug Pennington (Carrie), grandchildren-Dalton Pennington and Michael Jackson, great granddaughter- Emma Fratt, siblings- David Pennington, Tony Clarke, Greg Pennington and Julie Siems. He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter- Allison Paige Pennington, and brotyher- Douglas Clarke.
There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Smith’s Chapel Cemetery at 11:00 with officiating.

Donald Edward Roysdon “Buckwheat”

Donald Edward Roysdon, age 69, was born on November 9, 1951 in Crossville, TN to James E. Roysdon and Frances May Blaylock Roysdon and passed away on August 13, 2021 in Crossville, TN. He was a welder at Manchester Tank from which he retired. He enjoyed hunting and watching classic car shows, NASCAR, and college football.
He is survived by his mother, mother of his children- Patsy Faye Roysdon, daughters- Donna Ashburn (Jerome) and Melissa Hartman (Shawn), grandchildren- Dylan, Caitlin, Kayla, Jadelyn, great grandchildren- Braxton, Tate, Brian and Claire; his partner of 28 years- Joanne Matthews, her children- Wayne, Stephanie and Jessie, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, siblings- J.D., Bob, Bill and Ikey Roysdon, and Janice Bowermaster. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother- Dale Roysdon.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, from 1 to 3 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with service to follow. Tony Phillips will be officiating and burial will be in Big Lick Cemetery.

John Levesque

John Levesque, 75, of Fairfield Glade, went to his eternal rest July 12, 2021, at Cumberland House Hospice.

John, the son of Omar Levesque and Julia Lizzote Levesque was born on August 27, 1945 in Ft. Fairfield, Maine. When he was 9 his family moved to CT where he lived until 2010 when he retired and moved to Fairfield Glade.

He spent the vast majority of his working career as a buyer/supplier manager for a major medical device company. Upon retiring to Fairfield Glade he volunteered at Habitat for Humanity and became a member of the Fairfield Glade Fire Dept where in 2018 he was named Firefighter of the Year.

Retirement provided the opportunity for John to do the things he loved: golf, travel, getting together with friends, and volunteering where he could give back to the community. Above all these things, his family always came first.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Levesque of Fairfield Glade, daughters, Ashley Levesque of Piedmont, SC, Aimee Fletcher (Jeff) of Wethersfield, CT, son, Shawn Madore of Boston, MA, daughter-in-law, Nicole Levesque and grandchildren, Chantelle, Jacob, and Sophia.

John is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

A memorial service will be held at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 1:00.

Memorial donations in John’s honor may be made to Cumberland House Hospice of Cumberland County, Crossville.

Roger Miller

Roger Paul Miller, 85, a resident of Fairfield Glade and formerly of Rolling Meadows, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 21, 1936 to Leland and Ruth Miller in Jump River, WI. Roger proudly served his country in the US Army. While stationed in Germany, he met and married the love of his life, Sigrid Gutsche. Roger retired from Proctor and Gamble in 1990 and retired to Tennessee in 1995 to play golf. He was a member of the Fairfield Glade Community Church, the Moose Lodge, the Lions Club, and the Lairs and Cheaters Club. But above everything, he loved his family. 

Roger is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sigrid; his children, Roy of Crystal Lake, IL and Sonja (John) Errichiello of Harvard, IL; his grandchildren, Jon (Connie), Brigitte (Jon), Erich, Lauren, and Maggie; his great grandchildren, Alexis, Adalee, and Zachary; his brother, Daniel (Pat); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim; and sister, Betty.

The family will receive friends at Fairfield Glade Community Church on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, from 11:00 to 1:00 with service to follow with Pastor James Janecek to officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairfield Glade Lions Club.

David Elton Hale

David Elton Hale was born on December 4, 1979 in Crossville, TN to Donald and Andrea Davis Hale. He passed away on July 24, 2021.

He is survived by his father, Donald Hale; children, Tanner Hale and Titan Hale; and brother, Allen Hale (Toni).

He is preceded in death by his mother, Andrea Hale.

A private family service will be held in Warner Cemetery.

Lawrence “Rocky” Long

Lawrence “Rocky” Long, 88, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 1st 2021. He was born October 20. 1932 to Abe Wallace Long and Ova Owens Long in Palmer, TN. He was the youngest of 12 children.

Rocky joined the US Army when he was 16 years old and after being wounded on the front lines went on to become a supervisor at Crossville Rubber Products and Manchester Tank. Before he retired, he worked for the City of Crossville.

He was a wonderful Christian man and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren how to work in the garden and especially loved Sunday dinners with his entire family. This was a tradition that carried on for over 25 years until the Sunday before his eath.

Rocky enjoyed hunting for ginseng, watching old western movies, and he kept his mind sharp by working hundreds of puzzles over the years. He also read through the Bible six times in one year.

He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church for over 30 years and also served as a deacon. He loved to work in the church and do anything he could to lead others to Christ. He spent years putting together Bibles that could be shipped all over the world.

Rocky is survived by his wife of 66 years, Willie Miller Long; sons, Larry Long and David Long; granddaughters, Melanie Kabore, Alyson (Jason) Hale, and Chelsey Long; five great grandchildren and two sisters, Lenora Henke (100) and Dorothy Clawson (94).

He is preceded in death by his father and mother; two sisters, Kathleen Choate and Geraldine Morgan; brothers, Jack, Ted, Stanley, Charles, Bill, Jim, and Sherwood Long, in addition to several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 5 – 8 at Cornerstone Baptist Church. Funeral services for Rocky will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 10:00 at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Kerley officiating. He will be laid to rest in Crossville City Cemetery.
