Ruby Charlene (Williams) Mullins

Ruby Charlene (Williams) Mullins passed away in Crossville, TN on Thursday, April 25, 2019.  She was born in Wilmington, OH on August 27, 1937 to Lyman and Mabel (Hull) Williams.

Ruby is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dennis Dean Mullins, and sons Tony (Norma) of Sealy, TX and Mike of Albemarle, NC, and daughter-in-law Wendy Mullins of Crossville, TN.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Norman and Lloyd Williams and Harold Duane Cox, her son Rick Mullins and daughter-in-law Lorna Graves.

Ruby will be remembered for her love of family, animals, traveling, shopping and the arts.  She was a fan of the Atlanta Braves.   She was loyal to the NFL teams in her sons’ home states and followed the Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans.  This was to the chagrin of her oldest son Rick who continued to support Ohio teams.  She was known for her generous spirit and was a faithful supporter of A Time 4 Paws in Crossville.

Per her wishes, there will be no public service and her family will privately mourn her passing.

The family expresses their gratitude to the medical staff of Cumberland Medical Center for their care of their matriarch during these last months.

John Robert Marshall

John Robert Marshall, age 64, was born to the late Theodore and Shirley Irwin Marshall on July 11, 1954 at Offult Air Force Base, Nebraska and passed away May 9, 2019 in Atlanta, GA. He was a satellite communications Engineer of Intelsat. He loved his wife, family, and friends and enjoyed fishing and motorcycle riding.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Hassler Marshall; brother, David; sisters, Sue Ann, Terry, and Sandra. He was much loved by all his family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 12:00 to 2:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services for John will also be held on Tuesday following visitation with Steve Hassler officiating. He will be laid to rest in Linary Cemetery.

Thomas Wm. “BILL” Dodson

Thomas Wm. “BILL” Dodson, 76, of Crossville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday night, April 14, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born on November 13, 1942 in Washington, DC to Evelyn Martin Dodson and William Arnold Dodson. He grew up in Maryland and received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Maryland. He was retired Lieutenant with the District of Columbia Fire Department, receiving several commendations throughout his service.
He retired to Crossville in 1987, an area he had long loved, and was a successful real estate agent for many years. He was also known to many local families as a school bus driver with the Cumberland County Transportation Department. He was an avid golfer and a great and loyal fan of the U.T. Vols. He also enjoyed walks by the lake with his wife, Kitty, of 50 years. Enjoying nature was a part of his life daily, especially feeding the birds and squirrels, then watching them with his favorite and faithful pet companion.
Bill is survived by his wife, Kitty Dodson. He is also survived by his children, Dustin Dodson (Kathryn), Richard Dodson, and Debra Anderson; two “special mothers,” Amy V. Spears and Dottie Dodson; brother, Phillip Dodson (Rose) and four grandchildren, Adalyn, Sydney, Jacob, and Cory; also sisters-in-law, Rita Lamb and Jean Spears. Beloved brother-in-law, Jim (“J.C.”) Spears passed away the same week as bill.
Bill is predeceased by his mother and father.
The family is having a “Celebration of Life Service” on Saturday, May 18, 2019, in the Chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.: (across the street from Wal-Mart).
Family will gather in the Chapel from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with friends joining the “Celebration of Life Service” from 2:00 to 4:00 PM with refreshments at the conclusion of services. The service will be led by son, Dustin Dodson.

Douglas Albert Walden

Douglas Albert Walden, age 75, was born on June 3, 1943 to the late Edgar and Stella Walden in Columbus, GA. He passed away on April 26, 2019 in Crossville, TN. He was a member of the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church. Douglas loved his wife and family, a generous and loving grandfather, who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and telling stories about his job and travels. Douglas was in the Air Force for four years. He retired from Standard Marine Supply as a vice president of sales after 27 years. He enjoyed golfing with his Jones Boys Golf Group.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Walden; sons, Brian Whaley (Shannon) and David Whaley (Diane); grandchildren: Kendall Nelson (Tyler), David Whaley, Jr., Hayden Whaley (Amanda), Hauna Whaley, and Noah Whaley; great grandchildren, Greyson Nelson, Lyla Nelson, Marley Nelson, Porter Whaley, and Presleigh Whaley; sister, Janice Cassady (Eddie); niece, Debbie Wibbing; and nephews, Forest and Kage Wibbing.

A memorial service for Douglas will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church 231 Westchester Drive Crossville, TN 38558.

Joy Loretta Holter

Joy Loretta Holter, age 63, was born on July 1, 1955 in Crossville, TN to Leonard and Hazel Norris Sapp. She passed away on April 21, 2019 surrounded by her family that she loved dearly.

She is survived by her husband, Buddy Holter; children, HJ Holter (JoAnne) and Daniel Holter; granddaughters, Emma and Lena; and siblings, Wanda Wyatt (Bobby), Dennis Sapp (Lisa), and Jill Debord (Randy).

She is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Tom Sapp and Delmer Sapp.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home.

Tracie Nicole Stanley

Tracie Nicole Stanley, age 38, was born on June 9, 1980 in Tampa, FL and passed away on April 17, 2019. Tracie was a loving mother and wife who was crafty and creative, a Sports Momma with the All Attendance award.  She loved her previous home, community, and friends in Beulaville, NC. Tracie loved animals of all types, participated in 4-H, and Relay for Life (Squealin’ for a Cure).

She is survived by her husband, Donnie Stanley; children, Brittni Osborne, James Stanley, and Karsen Stanley; sister, Devon Osborne; aunts, Susie Smyth-Cook and Theresa Bailey; and many more loving family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Norman W. Osborne; and grandparents.

A memorial service for Tracie will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Crossville First United Methodist Church 100 Braun St. Crossville, TN 38555.

Alexandra Marie Anderson

Alexandra Marie Anderson, age 25, of Crab Orchard, TN, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. She was born June 25, 1993, in Pikeville, KY, to Brock and Lisa (Spears) Anderson.  She grew up in the small town of Elkhorn City, KY.

Alex was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She was employed as an adjunct chemistry instructor at Pellissippi State Community College.

Alex was an avid reader, an animal lover and music lover. She enjoyed playing the piano and spending time outdoors. Alex was a baker and a crafter and she shared those gifts with those closest to her. She had three kittens that she adored as well as a beloved cockapoo, Abby.

She is survived by her husband, Brandon Archer; parents, Brock and Lisa Anderson; two brothers, Jacob Anderson and Tyler Anderson; her grandmothers, Marie Anderson and Jean Spears and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, George Anderson and Artemus Spears.

She was a light in the lives of all who knew her, and will be deeply missed by many. Her sparkling blue eyes and infectious smile will long be remembered. She was a joy to know and love and a blessing in our lives for the short time that she was here. A private memorial service will be held in Elkhorn City, KY, at a later date.

Born- April 8, 1964

Died- April 15, 2019

A beloved son, brother, husband, uncle, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on April 15, 2019 at 12:19 AM at his cabin home in Sevierville, TN, that he loved so much. He was surrounded by his family and friends, a true fighter until the end. In his own words, “I have called in the artillery strike on my own position, because the enemy has over ran me.” He was ready and wanted to be with Our Lord and Savior. This Hero will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Semper Fi Marine!

Greg leaves behind a long legacy to include his loving wife of 19 years, Sherri Byram; father and step-mother, Greg and Lenora Byram; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Glenda Kirby; daughters and sons-in-law, Shayna (Daniel) Coleman, Kelli (Josh) Ireland, and Ashley Byram; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory (Cathrine) Byram; grandchildren, Landyn and Maggie Coleman, Neyland Ireland, and Hannah and Connor Byram; sisters, Tammy and Patty; sisters-in-law, Tammy Kirby and Lori Kirby; brother-in-law, Steve Kirby; and countless cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He also “adopted” a few along the way, Christy Bohannon with children, Hunter and Haylee Rector, Stephen “Cowboy” Burns, and Derek Parton. He also leaves behind long-time friends and fellow Marines, Alvin Fleming and Shaw Gillespie.

Gregory was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Jean Byram; and grandmother-in-law, Dorthy Rector “Stump Jumper” as he called her.

Full military services will be held at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home located at 2653 North Main Street Crossville, TN with full military detail by the USMC. Family will receive friends on Friday, April 19th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with burial services on Saturday, April 20th at 10 a.m. with burial to follow in the Pomona Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Coleman, Josh Ireland, Tyler Burke, Devyne Templeton, Stephen Burns, Derek Parton, Landyn Coleman, and Neyland Ireland.

Harold Arthur Pugh

Harold Arthur Pugh, age 81, was born on August 30, 1937 to Andy and Ethel Gore Pugh in Crossville, TN. He passed away on April 6, 2019. Harold loved traveling and being outside mowing his yard.

He is survived by his wife, Gretta Pugh; children, Mark Allen Pugh and Robin Suzanne Abram; and grandchildren, Amanda Noelle Pugh, James Riley Pugh, Anna Pauline Abram, and Alley Kathleen Abram.

He is preceded by his parents; and brother, Howard Andrew Pugh.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will also be held on Wednesday following visitation with Bill Roberts and Erick Barrett officiating. He will be laid to rest in Smiths Chapel Cemetery.
