Patti Linn Drake

Patti DrakePatti Linn Drake, 88, of Pleasant Hill, TN passed away on March 15, 2014 at Wharton Nursing Home. She was born on June 25, 1925 in Cincinnati, Ohio to John and Mildred Thyra Linn. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church at 2:00 pm. Patti will be laid to rest in Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio at a later date.

Patti was educated in art at the Art Academy of Cincinnati graduated in 1945 with a diploma, University of Cincinnati graduated in 1946 with a degree, Rosewood Art Center of Kettering and many workshops. Cuisine Dieppe, France in 1973.

She has had a long career in all facets of Commercial advertising, promotion and design, mainly in the fashion field.

Her paintings have hung in several galleries including the Oak Ridge Art Center, Fairfield Art Guild Gallery, and Crossville City Hall. Her painting of KOI was featured in the national magazine KOI USA.

In addition to her painting, she was also a writer and had published a chapbook of poetry with illustrations by herself.

She has taught at Sinclair Community College and given seminars on the empowerment of women in Dayton, Ohio; and art appreciation to local groups.

Patti was a retired consumer products company executive; married Melvin Richard Drake on September 15, 1953. They had one child, Julie Ann Daniel.

Patti was a fashion copy writer Mables, Cincinnati from 1938 to 1945; jewelry designer for Wadsworth Company in Dayton, KY from 1945 to 1951; fashion art director at H&S Pogue Company in Cincinnati from 1951 to 1955; art director in the classified Cincinnati Enquirer from 1955 to 1960; Vice President of fashion promotions Donenfelds, Dayton, OH from 1965 to 1995; was a resident and art seminar instructor in Fairfield Glade, TN.
