After a 5 year battle with cancer, Philip R. Hunter, Jr., age 82, went to be with his Beloved Savior. He was at home surrounded by his wife of 61 years, his children and his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Central Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m.—11 a.m., with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at City Cemetery following the service. Crossville Memorial is in charge of arrangements.

Phil was a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer followed by a career in government for Naval Aviation Service Unit (NAESU). He and Fran traveled extensively, but mostly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

For the last 26 years as members of Central Baptist Church, their lives revolved around serving others and watching the church grow.

Phil is survived by his wife Fran, daughter Vicki Carlson (Worth) of Crossville; daughter Lyssa Hunter Perry (Andy) of Bristol, Tenn., grandchildren Cameron, Kendrick, Kolbe and Karah Perry; son Steven Hunter of Berryville, Ark., grandchildren Erin Hunter (US Coast Guard, Seattle, Wash.), Keith Hunter (Jamy) of Fayetteville, Ark., and great-grandchildren Bailey and Kali Hunter; sister Pam Dyerson of San Diego, Calif., and many nieces and nephews.

Phil was preceded in death by his father Philip R. Hunter, Sr., his mother Marguerite DiPiero, and sister Marty Gaboury.

 

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cumberland County, 30 East Adams St., Crossville or Central Baptist Church Youth Program, Crossville.

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your friend. We were seckohd to hear Sunday that a dear lady at our Church that I talked to very often passed away suddenly on Tuesday. And your Pastor was right, I just pray that my friend Shirley was at Peace.
