Freddie England Miller

Freddie England Miller went to be with the Lord on February 13, 2019 in Crossville, TN. She was born October 4, 1919 in Troutville, VA to the late Ernest and Florence Switzer Bower. She was preceded in death by siblings Sonny Bower, Wesley Bower, Theodore Bower, Leona Wilson, Allie Bower, and Frances Likens. She was also preceded in death by husbands Charlie England and Ed Miller. She is survived by children Ernest (Phyllis) England, Robert (Sandra) England, Mary (Homer) Wilson, Sharon (Jimmy) Barnes, Edgar (Wanda Gail) Miller, and Gail LaRissie Miller. She is also survived by grandchildren Ramey England, Marie England, Shirley England-McCellan, Susan Noe, Jessica Fisher, Stacy Kelsey, and Pearson Miller; and 12 great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild. She is also survived by sister Dot Wyatt of Chattanooga, TN and brother Lynwood Bower of Moneta, VA. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

After a career in Washington, DC at the FBI/Department of Justice during WWII, she met and married Charlie England and moved to TN. After his passing, she married Ed Miller and continued to make Crossville, TN her home. She was a member of Isoline Baptist Church where she served in many capacities including Sunday school teacher, VBS director and teacher, and church treasurer. She was active in the FCE club and enjoyed the events at the Cumberland County Fair. She was a charter member of the ARC of Cumberland County and helped to establish Hilltoppers by serving on the board for many years.

Visitation is Friday, February 15 from 5-8:00 pm at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. The service and celebration of life will be Saturday, February 16 at 11:00 am at Isoline Baptist Church 10016 Highway 127N Crossville, TN 38571. Burial will follow at Campground Cemetery in Fentress County.
