Leo Z. Borowick

Leopold “Leo” Borowick was born on December 6, 1919 in St. Louis, Missouri to
Barbara Cytacka Borowick & Mieczyslay “Mitchell” Borowick. Leo’s family moved
to the Detroit, Michigan area when he was a child. Leo completed High School
and attended Wayne State University.
Leo served in the U.S.Army during World War II after which he returned to
Detroit where he earned his living constructing homes in the Detroit area. He
retired at the age of 5O.
Leo moved to Crossville around 1972 after which he continued to do some
construction and began a nursery where he raised Colorado Blue Spruce trees.
In 1981 Leo married for the first time at the age of nearly 62.
Leo has been an active member during his lifetime of several organizations such
as the American Legion, the Knights of Pythias, the Scottish Rite, and the Eastern
Star.
Leo has been an active member of the Homestead United Methodist Church since
his arrival in Crossville.
Leo has performed numerous piano benefit concerts, as well as for weddings,
other special occasions and faithfully played for his church prior to each Sunday
service up until about 5 years ago.
Leo is preceded in death by his beloved parents and his sister, Clara Franklin.
Funeral services are being handled by Crossville Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Wed., Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m at the
Homestead United Methodist Church. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m.
with interment at Hedgecoth Cemetery immediately following the service. The
Reverend Monica Mowdy will officiate.
Donations to the Homestead United Methodist Church Memorial Fund are
requested in lieu of flowers.
