Dewey Sherrill

Dewey Sherrill of Crossville, age 79, died at Cookeville Regional Center on Thursday, August 4, 2011. He made his living as a truck driver and in his spare time enjoyed playing his guitar and fiddle. His passion was bluegrass/gospel music, and he loved to sing in church. He also enjoyed the races and ballgames.He is survived by wife, Ruby Sherrill; children, Christine Yates of Crossville, Verdie Earhart of Crossville, Elmer Dewey Sherrill of Crossville, Edward Herman Sherrill of Arkansas, Fannie Louise Burgess of Crossville, Anthony Sherrill of Crossville, and Ruby Ann Mathias of Crossville. Dewey had 16 grandchildren: Christina Rochelle Masters, Chantilly Wallace, Walter Lee Turner Jr., Josh Burgess, Jessica Walker, John Barnwell, Nathan Bowman, Julia Sherrill, Anthony Tyler Sherrill, Brandon Sherrill, Justin Barnwell, Kyle Barnwell, Rowan Barnwell, Misty Dawn Bolden, Shonda Sherrill, and Cameron Yates. He had 16 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was blessed to be part of a large family. His brothers and sisters include Bobby Sherrill, James Sherrill, Della Sherrill, Junior Sherrill, Brenda Sherrill, Jerry Sherrill, Theresa Sherrill, Sue Sherrill, and Tony Sherrill. Those that have gone on before him are his parents, Ed and Verdie May Sherrill and brothers, Frank, Mitchell, and Jr. Sherrill. His visitation will be Friday, August 5, 2011 from 5 to 7 with a funeral to follow at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. His committal service will be at Haleys Grove Cemetery in Crab Orchard  on Saturday at 10:00 AM.
