Mattie Taylor, age 88, was born on May 1, 1924 in Sweetwater, TN and died on December 28, 2012 in Crossville, TN. She was a homemaker. In the early years, she farmed and logged on the family farm along with raising a family. She enjoyed going to yard sales, sewing, and quilting. She loved to travel and especially loved going to the ocean.

Mattie is survived by her daughters- Linda Trewyn, Loretta Hood (Layton), Hazel Houston (Billy); 17 grandchildren; adopted granddaughter- Brittany Houston; 20 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; brothers- John Alvin, Simon “Buck”, Raymond, and Luther Miller; and sisters- Willie Long and Mabel Miller.

She is preceded in death by her parents- Joe Wesley and Liza Mizer Miller; Husband- Johnny Parris Taylor; sons- Albert Oyama and Patrick Allen Taylor; brothers- Clifford, James Eli, Norman, and Oscar Miller; and granddaughters- Connie Asberry and Marlena Campbell.

The family will receive friends of Mattie Taylor on Monday, December 31, 2012, from 12 to 2 PM at Community Freewill Independent Baptist Church on Bell Rd. Her funeral service will follow at 2 with burial in the Creston Cemetery. Long time friend, Bro. Mike Kerley, will be officiating.
